Annotating Print Adverts – Free Lesson for IB English Language & Literature Paper 1
How to annotate print adverts for Paper 1 of IB Language and Literature
This free lesson teaches IB English Language & Literature students how to annotate a print advert for Paper 1.
Students will be guided through the conventions of print adverts (such as whitespace, copy, call to action, benefits-orientated language, etc) before examining an advert from 1957 America.
This lesson uses the TEAPCALIM approach: text type, elements of text type, author, purpose, content, audience, language and meaning. This helps students to identify a range of features and their effect for any Paper 1 text they may be given.
